And pretty much 90% of what I'm buying on Steam at the moment are relatively indie games.
And so I was not at the point yet, which is also why I haven't upgraded to a bigger PC handheld.
But...
It's it was so tempting, like it was literally in my cart and I had like the one gig version with the controller, like it was in my cart.
I was entering credit card information and that's when I pulled out.
So for me, maybe a thousand dollars, maybe a thousand dollars is my threshold.
Maybe a thousand dollars is where as an adult, I'm like, that is a lot of money.
But at the same time, I do know that, like, you know, and I'm not defending big corporations.
I know that when people say this, it's like they think you're defending them.
But, like, we have been paying 1990s prices for, you know, 2020s hardware for a long time.
You know what I mean?
Like, these companies have eaten a lot of money on them.
There is no world in which, like, Sony can release a console that costs $500 and not lose $500 on it.
And...
That's not a defense of the companies, but it's also the reality we have to face is that they're not going to give us this hardware at a price we like anymore.
And we can make the decision to not buy it like I did with the Steam Deck.
But I don't think there's any going back because this isn't like a cultural choice.
This is the fact that everything is more expensive.
You know, if it depends on what it does and what it runs, like if it's basically a very hyped up, well-designed, streamlined kind of Windows handheld that gets Windows out of my way, but still gives me the benefits of having Windows, you know, where I can run, you know, like I can sort of with a Steam Deck with enough futzing where I can run different, you know, services at once.
I might just do it.
