How much are we putting in that Peyton Manning had to keep running into Tom Brady, where John Elway...
John Elway had good quarterbacks, but he didn't have the greatest quarterback of all time standing in his way.
Yep, Tim Couch for sure.
While you guys are talking quarterbacks in the drafts, I was looking at Peyton Manning's draft in 1998.
Weak for quarterbacks.
It was basically Manning, Ryan Leaf, the next quarterback after that, end of the second round, Dave's homeboy, Charlie Batch.
The next best quarterback, a name that you would know in the sixth round, Matt Hasselbeck.
Yeah, I was going to say, why are we avoiding this name?
Before you move on, Dave, I have the answer to the Alex Smith question that Zaslow poised.
Alex Smith, three conference championships.
Okay.
He lost to the Giants the year they beat the Patriots.
He lost.
It was 2017.
He was on the team for 2012, but he had been replaced by Colin Kaepernick.
So he was on the team, but he did not play in that Super Bowl.
That doesn't count.
And then in 2018, he played against the Patriots, and he lost that one, and that was the big controversial year because the next year Patrick Mahomes gets put in, and everybody's like, how are you going to replace a guy who was just in the AFC Championship with this kid who's only a second, da-da-da, whatever?
It worked out for the Chiefs.
All right.
