My observation is the length is not the issue, it's the contribution that counts.

No, that is true.

So how much of it's you and your personality versus, say, luck?
Because politics, to a degree, is about favours and
you can have this portfolio and stuff.
How did you get around that, given you're not that sort of person to suck up to people, as you point out?
Yeah.
What about life outside of the institution?
In other words, you came with qualifications.
What's that value, do you think?
What about the cross-party stuff over a period of time?
I mean, can it work better than it does, basically?
What's your observation of the brainpower in the place over the last 24 years and whether it's gone down?
What about the personal stuff?
Is it a life or a career that's conducive to a decent personal life?
Can it be done or is it just a bit hard?
That's what I've done.
