Yeah, so I mean, I guess maybe the motivation for us having this wee chat was Humbroo 6.00, which dropped, I'm trying to remember exactly when it is.
It was not super far ago, not super recently, 11th of June.
Yeah, so about a month and a bit ago.
Yeah.
So that was like our new major release of Homebrew.
Had a bunch of different stuff in there, but mainly focused around kind of security and performance.
Security because that's the world we live in and performance because that's what everyone whines at me about and I need to make them shut up.
Yeah, I imagine so.
It's funny.
Most people say the same thing.
I'm almost like, yeah, Homebrew's never felt slow.
It's never been a problem or whatever.
But yeah, there's like a vocal minority.
Unfortunately, some of whom are my real-life friends as well.
I'll do it, yeah.
I think some of it is probably usage patterns for some of these things as well, where if you update your stuff every day, if you're like one of those people, then it never felt very slow.
If you update your stuff every few months or once a year or whatever, then all of a sudden it's got like hundreds of packages to download.
And I guess that one of the big changes was previously that was all the kind of downloading and installing was all quite serial, and we paralyzed a lot of that.
that, obviously, if you're installing one package in parallel or in serial, it's going to be the same speed.
But if you're installing 100, then it's going to be dramatically different performance-wise if you're doing it in parallel on a nice machine with lots of threads, like many people running Macs have.
