What were your takeaways from Terry Francona on Wednesday, Pat, when he talked about the upcoming MLB draft?
Again, it's coming up this Saturday.
I think that when you mention the positives and the minuses with anyone in baseball evaluation, including Nick Kroll and Brad Meador,
The way they've handled the draft has been first rate.
And I think they've had a lot of hits in the draft.
And I think that's been one of the reasons that the Castellini family, as you mentioned, has been so comfortable keeping Nick Kroll around because they've handled the draft so well.
They've procured talent.
A big part of Major League Baseball for a medium to small market team like the Reds is procuring affordable talent.
And how do you do that?
Well, you hit in the draft.
And the Reds have done that.
The criticism is that to some degree, the player development has not been as strong.
A lot of the players reach a certain point, maybe midway through their development in the system.
Or a guy like Matt McClain, he makes it all the way to the majors, shows terrific performance.
