I know I sound like the guy on the porch, on the rocking chair, going back, you know, back in my day, this is the way they played the game.
But that's the way the Brewers play it.
That's why they're able to do more with less.
And I think Reds fans are just so frustrated that,
that they look at a team like Milwaukee, who I think the Reds are actually spending more than Milwaukee in payroll.
They actually have a bigger payroll than the Brewers or are very, very comparable.
And they look at that and go, why them and not the Reds with all of the talent that you have coming up from your farm system?
In the Reds' fans' mind, okay, Pat, that does not compute.
The Matt McClain and center field thing, I don't get.
I mean, I know he played it at UCLA.
I understand that he played it in college.
Why he played it in college is probably entirely different than
than why he would be playing it now.
If you're in the major leagues, you're supposed to be playing that position because it is your craft.
It is your level of expertise.
It looks like the Reds are just throwing crap against the wall and hoping that it sticks because, A, they're injured.
They lost Dane Myers.
They lost Blake Dunn.
I get that.
