Talk about lessons learned over 10 years.

That is one that I won't say the hard way, but it is a lesson that I've learned.

Often the lessons that I've learned come from the feedback I get from the attendees.

And one of the bits of feedback I received very early on and wasn't necessarily able to adopt right away is to give them more time in between sessions.

So how do I design for something like that?

Well, I guess I should say somewhat flippantly, I don't.

I don't design for it.

Or I let the attendees design that time and how they want to use it.

But what I am doing now is, as you rightly pointed out, I'm giving them more of that time.

And I've learned throughout the years that that time in between sessions is so incredibly valuable to them.

Yes, it's valuable to me because it gives me a little bit more time to get the next presenter ready and make sure everybody's comfortable and you have everything you need.

So the behind-the-scenes Mac stock stuff gets taken care of during that time.

But for the attendees, it gives them that opportunity to unwind, to stretch, to engage with each other.

to pick up conversations that they started a couple hours earlier and now they see each other again and they continue that conversation.

And in some cases, Chuck Joyner with Mac Voices, I would catch him out of the corner of my eye recording interviews with people in the back corner during that in-between time.

Which, you know, if you know Chuck Joyner, that's what he does.

So I've learned throughout the years to give people more of that.

And that's what I very purposely tried to do this year.

In fact,

For the first time in 10 years, lunch was 90 minutes every day.
