And so it actually makes it a lot easier to capture things.
Once you get some momentum, then it continues to build on itself.
At Kraft and Commerce a couple of years ago, Nathan Berry, the CEO of Kit, talked about the laws of flywheels and that really resonated with me.
He talked about how when you turn a flywheel, it takes a lot of effort at the beginning, but then each turn actually becomes easier as you build momentum and it also produces more.
And so I think that absolutely applies to the creative process.
Now, how that stuff happens inside of Obsidian, I kind of don't put any sort of pressure or timeline on that.
I'm curating the things that come in there.
I'm periodically making connections, but I'm making those connections not on a schedule, not three hours a week I'm in there making my notes.
But when I notice that there's a connection, and this is my big beef with some of those pre-made systems, is I feel like if you take somebody else's system, and I have a pre-built vault, but there's an important distinction here I wanna make.
It's a starting point, it's not the blueprint.
So if you're going to have a set folder structure, that's great if it clicks for you.
But 99% of people, that's probably not the folder structure you should use.
Para is great if you are all in with Para, if that's the way that your brain works.
But I think a lot of times we force our brain down these paths when we should be giving it some fresh stuff to work with.
Like, Paul, you're talking about just starting off.
I wouldn't say create these folders first.
I would say start playing with your notes and sort of like the desire paths on college campuses, see where your brain naturally wants to go and then add some structure around that, whether it's folders, whether it's tags.
Don't try to like apply all that stuff at the beginning and then I don't understand any of this.
you know, and then then you write it off and you go try the try the next system.
So you let that stuff develop, let the connections happen, you know, kind of organically.
