And that's where you bring over the stuff that really resonates.
I capture stuff to a separate inbox.
I don't pipe it straight into Obsidian because I find that if I come back and I revisit my ideas a week later, a lot of times I'm like, well, that was stupid.
I don't know what I was thinking.
But sometimes it's like, oh, actually, I'm more excited about that than I was before.
That's my signal that there's actually something there.
Bring over the good pieces.

So that's curate the second step and then connect them.
So, how does this connect to the other things that I've collected?
The key inspiration for that, by the way, is How to Read a Book by Mortimer Adler, written in the 1960s, I think.
And he talks about the four levels of reading.
The top level is what he calls syntopical reading, and that's where you're reading a book and you're taking the ideas and you're lining them up with the other things from other books that you've read.
So for me, this happened when I read Atomic Habits by James Clear.
Charles Duhigg wrote the canonical book on habits, The Power of Habit.
He's got that cue routine reward cycle, right?
Everybody's running with that.
Oh, this is amazing.
This is how habits work.
And I was like, I don't like that.
