The CBA calls for a process, which essentially, if the NBA finds that there is punishment that it wants to hand down, you have to have an arbitrator approve it.
Right.
Essentially, you have to it's almost like a kind of a trial and where the NBA makes its case and the arbitrator says, OK, this works or it doesn't work or whatever.
Again, if if the NBA finds that there is a reason to have a punishment, then there's also an appeals process written into the CBA.
So there are many steps here that the league and if it needs to, has to go through.
They could also settle, right?
Like you could kind of have a settlement that preempts that whole process, but that kind of just tells you all the different paths you can go down and also how long this can all take then.
I don't know.
No one knows.
I think the only people that really know or work for Wachtell Lipton and are, you know.
have pervy to it at the highest levels of the NBA league office.
And I think that's really it at this point.
And it's hard to say what they found, how confident they are in their findings to then try to create a punishment.
I think the league made it clear, if my understanding is correctly, and I think Adam Silver said this, like,
the reason the Raptors trade held up was, or is being held up rather is that they slid a paper across, you know, across the desk or probably sent the DocuSign over to the Raptors and said, hey, sign this.
You're indemnifying us from all the risks you may take and understanding that, you know, if something comes down, this could still affect you down the road, right?
And like when paperwork and legal paperwork gets floated, we all kind of just like rethink things a little bit.
And so now the Raptors are sitting on it and they still are making it seem as if like,
This is not an indication that they think something's coming.
It's just them covering their bases, which is all to say, I don't know.
