God as a practical way to support ministry and the needy.

That's how I learned how to be generous.

Didn't know nothing about no tithe.

You know, back in the day, they had the big old gold plate.

You pass it down, you put a dollar in, and it keep moving.

Never explained to you.

But even at that time, I didn't know it was cultivating generosity in me.

It was cultivating.

So when I go into church, I automatically know I have to give something.

So it was cultivating in me, don't hold on to everything that I have.

That's the whole purpose of the tithe, the whole purpose of what I just walked y'all through in the Old Testament.

God wants us to get us to a point of generosity like him, not rules.

Jesus in Matthew 6.

Matthew 6 verse 24 says,

popular verse we heard it before no one can serve two masters for either he will hate the one and love the other or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other you cannot serve god and money all you think about is your job all you think about is getting the overtime all you think about is getting this this big paycheck all you think about is the promotion all you think

So then when you come to church and we talk about giving, you automatically feel begrudging in your soul.

You're like, I work for that.

I sacrifice for that.

That's why it's such a competition between money and God.
