This week started in Memphis, but the home team didn't fly in from their trip on time because of the ice storm, so the Nuggets ended up on a three-day team-building trip in Tennessee. Fourteen hours after they landed in Denver, the Nuggets had a game with the leader of the East, the Detroit Pistons. Big Val and Payton returned to the lineup, so it was just the four opening night starters that were out of the game. The first quarter looked awful.

Jamal Murray and Peyton Watson were met with serious physicality which they didn't respond well to. Only 18 points in the first period described how impotent their offense looked. In the second, Bruce Brown sparked a 14-2 run
