You know, I hesitate to say that we've seen this before because I don't want people to think this is normal.

But if you talk to some of the great soldiers of freedom, if John Lewis were here today,

you know, he would say, I've seen this before.

If Dr. King were here, he would say, I've seen this before.

He actually wrote extensively about this in the letter from the Birmingham jail.

But that doesn't make it normal.

But it has always been true that in times of great trouble, which this is one of, where we are facing a future that is not certain, and we have got to choose what that future is going to look like and how we're going to get there.

Now, when people always ask me,

Well, what can I do?

I asked John Lewis this question.

Now, I mean, when you think about just that moment and whether or not most of us would have the courage to do that, you could forgive human beings forever.
