That seemed to me to be an example of the book really firing off cylinders.

An interesting plot concept, an interesting commentary coming together.

Where the past storyline lost me is like, I was like, what are the stakes here?

I know she wants to figure out what's going on, and she wants to leave?

She's just going to walk away?

She doesn't want to go back to the present.

She just wants to like walk.

What are the stakes?

What is she hoping will happen?

What are we as readers kind of looking forward to other than solving, finding an answer to what?

That's where it lost me.

So I felt mixed about it.

So the world is interesting, but there's a lack of momentum there.
