I'm in the same boat.
I didn't think the landing worked, but for different reasons, actually.
I actually... So you find out plot twists were in the future.
It's been a mental break.
And I put my book down.
I walked away.
And I was like, I just need to be away from this for like an hour.
And I played a bunch of video games.
And then I came back to it.
I was so annoyed.
I was so annoyed.
And I think that's because I felt like...
It did let her off the hook in that it took away so much agency from her to be like, oh, actually, plot twist, she's been drugged and had a mental break all along.
And that bothers me because so much of the book in the first half is the idea of what will someone do for a bit of power?
Mm.
When they are feeling alienated, when they are being suppressed because of sexism, so much of the first part of the book is about power and choice.
And so just to strip that away felt so annoying to me.
