But I guess it's that thing where sometimes as a young black man in this space, you feel like if you say no, you then might get the difficult card of like, oh, it's very difficult, very hard to work with.
Now, I only know that because it's stuff that I've heard before from other people that have been in this space.
If I say no, I might be difficult.
They might not even invite me back again.
I'm not trying to be a diva, but I do want to have ownership of what I do and how I do it.
You have to stand up in what you believe in
And you're like, my morals just tell me I don't want to do that because I'm going to be laughed at.
I don't want to be laughed at.
I'm representing almost a whole community.
And they're going to be the ones who sit there and be like, oh, bro, what are you doing, man?
That's just not it.
Why are you wearing a chicken suit?
You know?
But then I think that's also like, when you think of the history of black comedy, quirkiness is not something that people relate to with black comedy, especially black British comedy.
I guess things might have changed for a different generation with social media and stuff.
But, you know, being a quirky comic and being like, well, I'm just going to, you know, chuck on this fox suit.
When you're a black comic and you're doing shows, especially if you start off in the black circuit,
you're looking for big laughs.
Like they're the laughs that you are writing for.
And you're like, I need the big laugh.
