They need a safe space and they need unconditional guidance and care.
They don't need floggings.
They don't need beatings.
They don't need people to master them.
And if you are doing that, all you're doing is repeating a pattern, a cycle that happened to you instead of doing the work.
There's this quote, incredible quote.
It's like, you either face your demons or you let them raise your kids.
I mean, when I birthed my son, after I birthed him, I was going through postpartum depression.
I was, you know, very isolated by myself.
I literally was raising him alone.
And I remember this happened to me and I was like, I need to get my therapist because this is really bad.
I went, I generally almost got to the point where I almost took my life because it was so bad.
I didn't sleep at night.
You know why I didn't sleep?
Because I thought that if I woke up, I was going to turn into my dad and he was going to hit my son.
So I wouldn't go to sleep.
I would just stay awake.
And so I had so much fear about something happening to my kids that if I drove over a bridge, I'd be like, oh my God, I hope he's not here because he will try and throw my kid over the bridge or whatever.
And if they're around a knife, I'm like, I need to put the knives away in case he shows up.
Like I had this built in fear that this man would somehow come back alive and hurt him.
