This was like core to the pretext in the Lavender Scare as advanced by people like Roy Cohn and other one of Lindsey Graham's like, you know, members of his lineage, right?
This notion that you can't have gay people in the State Department or in the Civil Service because they're liable to blackmail.
And it's like, well, if you guys were a little nicer to gay people, the blackmail wouldn't have any effect, right?
