First, I'm going to address the question she put in the very end.
The first thing I would say is,
There's no way for us to not be jealous of, envious of other people's lives if we're comparing our lives to theirs.
Anytime you're comparing your life to somebody else's life, you're going to come up wanting something.
That's not necessarily bad, but it can be harmful if she's in the state that she's in.
And it's hard not to compare.
I think it's a natural thing we do, but I think it's helpful to know factually, anybody, if we're comparing our lives to other people's lives, there's going to be something that we don't have that we want because nobody has it all.
The other thing I would say when it comes to thinking about the roads that you didn't take is when we do that, every time we are second guessing, not taking a different road or making the wrong choice,
We assume that if we took that other choice, everything would go perfectly.
And so when we look at the end goal, we look at the end goal as like everything worked out perfectly, but we don't know what would happen.
So you could have done the other thing and we don't know where you would have ended up, but you assume that you're going to end up here, but that's not always the case.
And you might have ended up at a certain point down that road and wondered, I wonder what would have happened if I had gone this other route, which is the route you actually took.
Right.
That version of you could be wondering.
The same thing.
And that version of you could be...
You might have more money.
You could be more miserable.
We don't know.
Even if you did have this stable job and then you climbed a corporate ladder or whatever and you were financially stable, that doesn't mean you would have liked your life more because then you could have been looking at your friends' lives and been comparing the things that you didn't have in that life.
