Those are the signals to pay attention to, to think about what is the kind of work that really can bring you joy.
The one thing I would say about happiness is that like, yeah, everyone's miserable at some point at work.
I like to say that my goal is that I'm happy 90% of the time at work.
And I do that today.
But I have this strongly held belief, which is not mine.
I'm so lucky.
And I feel so grateful because that was not true for a long time.
It's anybody that works in sort of the strengths-based work or the sense of like,
that you are at your best when you're doing the things that you're uniquely great at and that give you energy, that that's the highest and best use of you in the world.
When I do work with people to ask them to think about how they want to shape their future or what they might want to invest more time in or explore next, a lot of what I'm doing is looking back over what they've done and asking, when did you feel most alive?
When did you feel most energized?
When did you feel like the time flew by?
When did you feel like I could do this forever?
Yeah, there's such a difference between being deeply uncomfortable and very stretched and being miserable.
Those are the signals to pay attention to, to think about what is the kind of work that really can bring you joy.
