I like to use and a lot of other people use the drive for autonomy.

And so having that autonomy for a lot of neurodivergent folks, especially autistic folks, is really, really important.

And if you're in a relationship, you know, there are things that have to get done.

There are some shoulds, but the way in which you communicate the should can change so that demand for autonomy or drive for autonomy doesn't like, you know, create this big wall.

And I think and I did this in my marriage.

I mean, I shamed my ex husband over and over again.

I can't tell you how many times I shamed him because I thought he should be able to do things the way I did them.

Or the way you know, my parents had done them or whatever, you know.

Instead of focusing on our partner's strengths sometimes and the great things that they do and that we appreciate, yes, we move into the shaming.
