Think about what your next year looks like.
You may have put off possible elective medical visits because of COVID-19 that you'll be able to do in 2021.
And you'll want to think about those coverages and look to see how different coverages can help protect you.
I think it's very much really reviewing your individual and your family needs and thinking about how you can provide
protect your family in times of need, knowing what your financial situation may be.
And so, you know, it is time, as we said, don't hit the default button, don't procrastinate and really explore the benefits that are offered by your employer.
And take that time ahead of time to ask questions.
A lot of times these enrollments will come with a calculator to help you determine what needs are best for you and your family.
And so you'll want to utilize all those tools that are available to you.
I think the biggest mistakes that people make in this process is really not taking the time to explore all of the benefits that are available to them and how they can protect themselves and their family.
That really is key.
The other thing that people should think about is disability insurance.
And so it's often overlooked as an employee benefit.
And there are two basic kinds of disability insurance.
There's a short-term disability that replaces 60% to 70% of your base salary, and then long-term disability, which kicks in normally three to six months and could replace anywhere from 40% to 60% of your income.
Many employees don't realize that disability insurance, for example, can help cover expenses when people are out of work due to illness or injury.
Many employers are offering high-deductible health care plans now.
And an HSA or a health savings account can help you with those high-deductible plans.
Voya research shows that only 2% of people are aware of the key attributes within an HSA.
First, an HSA is a medical savings account that's available to you when you're enrolled in a high deductible health plan.
