People shut down and don't want to talk to police officers for all kinds of reasons in all kinds of different communities.
But when there is an investigation and when every minute counts, that's when you're infuriated about something like that, because at the point that he was still missing, they needed every single possible fact.

I think what we know is that whatever they said was not released to the public and whatever they did or did not say to the police was
was not provided to the family.
And that's two different things, because the way that a state runs an investigation and the information that they keep to themselves as they're formulating whatever their facts are of the case sometimes involves a level of secrecy that is infuriating and heartbreaking to family members.

I hate hypotheticals, but if they were drinking, if they were using drugs, if there was an argument, if any of those things were involved, if they were under the influence and being under the influence caused them to not have memory, whatever the case may be, those are all things that'll keep you from coming forward

We don't know at what point he ended up without his phone.
