And like you explained very well, by jamming that rudder, it caused it to crane out of control.
It almost hit the USS Essex, which was its sister ship.
And had it done so, that would have been one of the biggest ocean sea catastrophes in the history of any warfare.
Because there were 3,000 people on both ships.
But the crew and this captain, who's singularly a very exceptional individual, pulled together all those people on his crew that could make decisions from his executive officer to his damage control officer to some of the petty officers and enlisted guys.
They got together and they kind of tried to come up with ideas.
