Well, I think these races are always really interesting because we tend to focus quite a bit on like the governor's race and the big races and sometimes we don't really have a full understanding of what insurance commissioner and
others in the in the government do.
Right now we have an insurance commissioner race that's two pretty experienced politicians.
You've got Senator Dinah Sykes, who's been the Senate Minority Leader since 2021.
And she started serving in the Senate in 2017.
So she's been around a while and she's up against Republican Dan Hawkins.
Who is well known for
Um
Basically on his website he says pro-life, pro-gun, pro-Trump, conservative Republican.
So he is a very conservative Republican who has stood out a lot in the last year, especially in terms of some of the the issues that come before the government and and in his role as representative.
He's been Speaker of the House since twenty twenty-three and he was elected to the Kansas House in two thousand thirteen.
So they're both pretty experienced politicians looking at taking on this role.
Vicky Schmidt has been in there and she she is losing the position to run for governor.
Then we have the state treasurer who's Democrat um Juan Luingo.
He is from Olatha and he is a longtime businessman there.
He does not have political experience, but he is running his campaign and based on basically his role with his with private business and as um
in the I'm just gonna say he's the CEO of the engage insurance company and has worked in risk management for quite some time.
So he's really taking a look at that state treasurer role and what he can do there to promote the state and to invest our dollars better within the state.
He's running against Republican incumbent Steven Johnson.
Who has um he's uh got a farm background.
