She did a budget tour around the state of Kansas this year and said that she set those priorities really strictly from what she heard from Kansans and what they want. voice-verified

She did want to increase funding for special education, expanding mental health services, which of course is spoken about in almost every hearing that I attend that has anything to do with social services, from juvenile justice to foster care to family, all the family services that are needed, as well as things like the frail elderly waiver. voice-verified

so she take she took a look at those and what she came up with was a budget that is just um 35 million dollars of the increase and it comes from one-time expenditures and it's a total 10.8 million dollar budget that's about 1.6 percent higher than last year's recommended budget um approved budget excuse me and voice-verified

If you pull out that, they kept their increase at about 1.3% if you pull out those one-time expenditures, so that it matches what's projected to see as growth in tax collections in the upcoming year, so not to have any significant growth. voice-verified

A lot of this, a lot of it comes into projects that she's really been outspoken about and things that need to happen. voice-verified

One of the things that came up during the hearing was how much increase is in there because of changes that were made from the federal government level from the One Big Beautiful Bill. voice-verified
