Um I thought the Labour Party was in the wrong direction morally.
There were some who thought the Labour Party they should leave the Labour Party.
Um, obviously change UK got set up, Labour MPs left.
I thought that was wrong.
I thought that was the wrong answer at the time.
I thought the Labour Party was a hundred year old institution.
It deserved more time and more support than just people walking away.
There were others who were constantly trying to get a challenge against Jeremy Corbyn.
I wasn't in that camp.
So I thought
af especially after the twenty seventeen generation, that Jeremy Corbyn was going to be the leader until the next generation, whenever that was going to be.
So my my thinking Thomas that could be five years.
It might not be until twenty twenty two and Jeremy Corbyn would remain leader all through that period.
I knew at some point that for the Labour Party to move forward there needed to be a change of leader and I was willing to support the right candidate.
Um, as an organisation, Labour Together was always going to be neutral.
Um some of the MPs were gonna support different candidates, some of the MPs were gonna stand.
Uh and the donors were gonna do their own thing and the staff and the structure itself was gonna remain neutral.
So that was always a decision.
I was taking a personal decision about who I would back in that situation.
Keir had decided or had begun to d think seriously about standing for leader, um uh long before I met him.
