I met George Osborne um and t to to kind of gauge his interest in it.

And I and m my recommendation to the Prime Minister was he was a pointable candidate.

So I didn't uh push it.

Uh why didn't George Osborne get the job?

I think my advice was that um

Peter Mandelson's experience on trade.

uh made him the right candidate for the job.

It was my view that he was the right candidate for a job.

That was my recommendation, my rationale behind my recommendation.

But I did know it was a risk.

I don't know what Jess Phillips' uh uh view on it was.
