Um so that was important.

Uh I think the second thing that was important was that the Labour Party had and at its worst it can do this.

It had become focused on itself rather than a country.

And we needed to reorientate the party to be laser like focused on the voters.

Because when it's not, it doesn't serve people.

It doesn't serve people in government, it doesn't serve people in local government and it doesn't win elections.

And that is

its purpose.

It is a public institution.

And so we we we made those arguments.

We we passed rules.

Uh we won internal uh uh votes uh to get our rules passed.

Um but that wasn't a a personalised thing against anybody.

I think when I was younger, uh and I grew up in the late eighties, early nineties, uh I was actually quite idealistic.

Uh I was a member of C and D.

Um I brought recycling to my school.

Uh I was angry about the treatment of the Bermium six.

I was celebrating when Nelson Mandata was released.

I grew up in a time when

burning wall was coming down.
