As a human, if we'd gotten that request, we'd maybe be like, hey, actually I don't know if I fully understand this.

Um models are post-trained, all of them are post-trained to be helpful.
And being helpful in the post-training system
Setup doesn't mean slowing down and being like, wait a minute, I'm not sure.
It means doing the best you can to provide a really long, thorough response.
And so we call that generate rather than clarifying.
Um and so that's a behavioral decision that the model is making.
It doesn't depend on how how smart it is.
It's it's making a decision that moment.
Wait, there's a little ambiguity here.
Do I want to
Plow through it and just kind of make an assumption and then the user will correct me if I'm wrong?
Or do I want to take a step back first and clarify?
And that's actually a behavior that when we ran the simulation test on kind of older inputs from older models and compared them to what new models do, that's actually a decision, a behavioral decision that newer models are making more than older models.
And it's one of those behavioral decisions that leads directly to increased churn from users.
walking away because they don't have what they have, what they want, or confidence traps and mismatches between what the user actually wants.
And it's a it's just a great example of a behavioral decision that models are making that really influence task success once the user is going back and forth with them.
