was so so so smart that like teachers couldn't they like couldn't fail her because she could come in and like ace every test she was better than everybody else and so she sort of like was pushed through high school but like i didn't have that i had like that you could probably be a pretty good student but you're you're just sort of skipping school and like the class clown sort of guy
Um, but I, uh, I, my sort of like for my, my, the moment that things really changed for me and I realized that my tendency towards sort of like bad behavior was in part because I didn't really have a goal, um, was when I was, uh, I went, I, I barely graduated high school in the sense that I probably could have failed on truancy alone.
Like I just didn't go.
but I graduate and I didn't apply to college or I should say I haphazardly like half applied, left some of my applications were incomplete.
They were though.
And that's the only reason they even be.
I didn't really, I didn't really.
But my mom, who is, you know, she's a brilliant writer, and she actually was the writer for our podcast for the first year, she wrote my essay, and she sent it off as me to UMass Amherst.
And so, again, my grades are terrible.
Like, it's all bad.
My mom writes my essay, and we send it off.
And UMass got in touch with me, and they're like, hey, you know, your grades are really not what we're looking for, but my God.
That essay was just brilliant.
She wrote this essay about, it was really short too, which is sort of the brilliance of the essay.
It was about my best friend, this guy, Ray.
He lived down the street from me in Quincy and we were like thick as thieves as kids.
But like he came from a completely broken household, like in all the worst ways, like drug abuse, like you name it.
It's like the worst stuff happens in that house.
And he would come to our house and it was like, he was another son.
He was a brother, he was beloved.
