not having a set sort of one place didn't appeal to me as much as the idea of working at a small school and so I went uh came to Kamagaya, which is and the school is in Kolanmachi, which is now
Um
got paid uh incorporated with Kumagaya and that is about forty five minutes from where I
Live now, and that's where I met my husband.
as a student and we became friends.
Not that I'm jumping the gun on
Oh, tell you the whole life story, but um yeah.
And you you you went to that school, you found your little uh place and Yeah, so people knew that I was coming because I had an introduction through sushi bar.
In fact, the owner of the school
Um, he was a Japanese guy and he had a foreign wife.
She was Austrian and she wanted to stop teaching, and so I was their first little foreign teacher besides her.
And um
They knew people, the students knew like there was um students from the um Shaksho, the the city hall.
And so they would they were they they would take me to introduce me to different Japanese foods.
And at first and and I came because my two favorite foods were um Arajiro, the clear fish broth soup, okay, and sushi.
But
You know, um
Sushi in America, even in the eighties, was way different.
Then even even with Japanese master, it had become more rolls, not those big huge rolls which other people eat.
But still little Californios or or salmon skin on the outside rolls, inside out rolls, or little dishes, a lot of little little little dishes of sashimi, things like that.
