And when Penny fell pregnant with her first child, her stepmother became a doting grandmother.
Penny and her husband decided to have a second child, and it was around this point that she felt something was off with her husband, but she couldn't figure out what it was.
So she tries to speak to him and he would often shut it down, brush it off as nothing.
So she confided in her father and stepmother, who both tried to reassure her.
She knew that her husband had confided in her stepmother before, she'd seen that they had been getting close, and she'd actually asked her stepmother to keep an eye on her husband.
But then Penny's world fell apart.
Her husband came home one day and told her he was leaving her.
He didn't give her any more information.
He just said that he wasn't in love with her anymore.
Um and Penny was dumbstruck.
