What it found is reductions were observed in tackle event concussion rates for both adult men, some 38%, and adult women, 63%.
Schoolboy rugby or under-18s didn't see the same improvements and the authors said really more research was needed to try and understand why.
There's obviously been a lot of focus on concussion and sport in general in recent years and rugby has come under the spotlight.
Some studies have showed a high percentage of brain health concerns amongst current and former players.
And this study comes with something of a health warning.

There needs to be comparative studies.
perhaps in different countries there needs to be analysis of the methods of assessing concussion and injuries like that but I spoke first with Mark McHugh who's St Mary's College head coach and he started playing age six he played professionally he played until his early 30s he's coached for 14 years and he outlined first what those rule changes have meant for tackling in rugby.
And we can see in this study now that it has shown in the adult game, at least, it would appear this is having a significant impact on the frequency of concussions.
