I mean obviously we've had governments
of either party or multiple parties give out government contracts to, you know, uh favored investors and this and that.
M military contracts are one thing and trading on oil shorts based on alleged and maybe imaginary military action or military treaties seems like a level of cronyism that is beyond just, you know, dispensing government contracts.
to Halliburton to pay for you know, to uh build things for a war that you created.
Obviously we've had that kind of thing in the past, but is this level of market manipulation unprecedented in the US?
You know, it's interesting sometimes when people ask me if I can take a step back.
People ask me about this podcast and, you know, oh, American power, what's that about?
And obviously we have the sort of double entendre power in our title.
And I say, you know, one of our experts is focuses on the military and foreign policy, one of them focuses on energy.
And to some people they go, Oh, that's a general, you know, swath of politics I'm interested in.
And some people have asked me, What's the connection there?
And obviously our
energy markets are very much related to military action and vice versa.
But why those two things?
Why do they comprise American power?
And the answer I usually give people, and this is a layperson's answer, is I just like to say those are the most expensive things.
These are the these are the by orders of magnitude most profitable things in the world and especially that our country trades on.
So
So much of our structure of power, and I this is what I always say to people is how we exert power internationally, internally, how we structure our power internally is directly related to those two markets and those two industries and those two cultures.
So I think what we're seeing right now is perhaps the most perfect example of that.
