We'll have more on that one shortly.
But there are some important caveats.
GDP per person was flat, and labor productivity hasn't improved at all over the past year.
In fact, Australian workers are no more productive today.
than they were seven years ago.
And after those GDP figures landed, traders pushed the probability of a September rate rise to around seventy percent.
That's up from fifty percent beforehand.
A hike by November is now fully priced in, with markets expecting the cash rate could peak around four point eight percent next year.
Market economists though are still split on whether the hike will be in September or November.
Paul Bloxon from HSBC, for instance, is actually now forecasting two hikes starting this month, which will weaken economic growth before growth almost stalls, with rate cuts then in 2027.
Deanna Musina from AMP, meanwhile, thinking that there will be another hike, which might be in November, to give the RBA time to confirm whether July's inflation data was actually an outlier or not.
And the reason why, just as a refresh, why this matters, is because bond yields ultimately influence the cost of borrowing across the economy.
So higher yields mean that governments pay more to service debt, companies face higher financing costs, and for households, that can feed through into higher fixed mortgage rates.
Tech stocks were amongst the hardest hit.
That sector fell 3%, with block down 5.5%, Wise Tech Global 5%, and NextDC 4%, as those rising bond deals put pressure on those rate sensitive growth stocks.
Miners also had a pretty rough session.
BHP fell 3%, Fortescue down 5%, and Northern Star also down 5% as copper and gold prices weakened.
And new figures from the Electric Vehicle Council actually show that momentum continuing.
Tesla and Polestar delivered a combined 7,821 electric vehicles in August.
That's up 148% on the same month last year, and actually the second highest monthly result on record for the two brands.
