I think that's a really good question to ask when, when those acquisition offers come in or something like, okay, but what would I do?
And I'd go right back to building software because I love it.
And one thing that I love now is the, like the leverage that we have.
So for example, like,
This year we launched ConvertKit Commerce, which is our digital product sales platform.
And that's something that's just different enough from ConvertKit that it could be its own startup entirely.
And so if I were to start over and do that, that initial traction is really hard to get.
Obviously, having done a successful company, the next one is easier, the relationships that you already have, the brand reputation and everything.
But like now for ConvertKit, it's like, oh, we have 250,000 users.
And so let's just tell them to use this new thing.
And so when you come out with something, you're like, wow, this is getting used by thousands and thousands of people, which is like the creator's dream.
And so it's one of those things that if you sell it, if you move on, then you lose that or some amount of that leverage.
And so I'm just like, nope, I like the leverage too much.
I'm going to keep doing this.
So we have two different numbers that we track.
The first one is like the total amount earned by creators using ConvertKit as email products.
And in 2020,
beginning of 2019 or 2018, I'm trying to remember exactly when, we launched new APIs so that when people are selling through ConvertKit and using Shopify or Teachable or Stripe or any of these others, it includes the reporting of where the revenue came from and how much you're earning, and it aggregates it across all these different platforms.
So you have one creator dashboard.
And that's been really cool.
