Yeah, well, this has been the third episode now where we've been contacted by someone who's been scammed out of money.
They've obviously thought it was myself they were speaking to online, Facebook and Instagram requesting money for different things.
And unfortunately, people are very vulnerable and end up giving away money online.
Which is such a shame.
An awful lot of money, yeah.
And we've kind of, I did an interview with Eddie Rowley in the Sunday World at the weekend just to try and get people to realise the amount of scammers out there, really, and just to try and protect their, especially the elderly people who might be more vulnerable to not realise they're actually not talking to the person they think it is on Facebook and Instagram.
Yeah, well, in most cases, we've found out it's people who, the scammers are actually looking for vouchers, online vouchers, which can't be traced, you know, the likes of Amazon vouchers and stuff like that.
But in this case in the UK, the lady done transfers of tens of thousands of pounds at the time, which was probably a life savings, which is absolutely horrendous, you know.
And we were contacted by the family to say,
see would I speak to the lady in question just to let her know that it wasn't actually me that she was talking to online so which I did I gave her a call and met her face to face she still kind of didn't believe me which was baffling to me but that's how good the scam was
They go into such deep lengths to try and convince them and let them know day to day what's happening.
Like they would take pictures from my Instagram story and send them on and say, this is what I'm doing.
And can you contact me later on?
And obviously the profile picture is the same as mine.
And yeah, they go to extreme lengths to try and make it very, very believable.
And what was the trick?
I don't really know in this case how it started.
I only know how it finished.
But obviously she'd been making contact with... The scammers had been making contact with this particular lady for over six months and she'd done numerous amounts of transfers.
Obviously the police got involved.
