Well, that was in a very Fordist, very centralised, very top-down mechanical era.
We don't live in that era anymore.
We live in a very dispersed era.
We live in an era where everyone has voices, we've been discussing in a say through social media.
And so, therefore, you should be doing things locally with people.
There's a great scheme up in Sheffield who have been running social care through kind of, you know, neighbourhood systems.
And it works, right?
You know, because it's close to people.
There's proximity.
They've got a voice.
They've got a say.
Well, I mean, firstly, Burnham has shown that local government can be used dynamically and purposefully.
You know, he's done that in Manchester.
So it's a good example.
We need more examples of that.
And secondly, this shouldn't be just about devolution of power from one set of politicians to another.
It should be to communities and to citizens.
So how do you bring in that level and push power all the way down?
Bring in citizens' assemblies as a way of people deciding.
