And and from, you know, in movies, it's always a dramatic thing that the person dives into the water and pulls a person out.
But as I understand it, the training is always you do everything you can not to get in the water first.
You you try to throw them a life ring.
You try to throw them a rope.
You try to throw them right.
And if you have to, you get you go in the water with them.
But it's it you put yourself in peril and you're much less powerful if you're in the water with them than if you're on the if you're on the shore.

Oh, I'm I'm just thinking about I had a student who graduated, um, Sidwell Friends, which here in DC is probably the most academically sort of intense place.
Uh, and he was a straight A student and that the place doesn't give out, you know, A's like candy.
And he his parents had r had had come to hear Bill and me talk about the self driven child and I asked him s as his parents came to the book talk, I said, Did had had they read the book?
He said, Yeah.
I said, Has it made any difference for you?
And he said, Well
They've stopped asking me, Shouldn't you be doing your homework?
And I said, Well, well, tell me more.
He said, Well, honest to gosh, the the more every time they'd say, Shouldn't you be doing your homework?
It simply made me not want to do my homework because it you know he felt disrespected, you know, he just was already gaining his straight A's, right?
And it and it lowered his sense of control.
