Well, two parts really. matched

So in 2008, when I was at City, they signed a defensive midfielder, this was when Mark Hughes was manager, and he was doing really well in midfield, then he had a couple of injuries and so on, and then we were playing a game in particular, and we had somebody sent off, it was Richard Dunne, the other centre-half, so I was playing at centre-back, so the midfielder, number 33, came back to play in centre-half with me, and I led him through that game, and we played a few games together from that standpoint. matched

And that number 33 ended up being Vincent Kompany. matched

So Vincent Kompany is somebody I mentored for approximately two games. matched

And then as you can see, he went one way, I went the other. matched

But then if we're gonna talk about players who I sort of looked up to, Lionel Messi's a year younger than me and he's my favourite ever player. matched

It's been a privilege to like, I've watched him at the same time when I was playing football at the same time, so yeah. matched

even though he's younger i still looked at that guy like he was a god i played one game at the new camp he was um essentially more or less a friendly was in front of 90 000 people and i never forget that feeling of when he came out onto the field he didn't even feel like a real person because that was the guy who you know in football i loved more than any other player i'd ever seen before so yeah those are my two stories vincent company slightly mentored leonard messi favorite player ever and he's younger matched

I don't know what this is.

But yeah, obviously it's been a huge talking point and in some ways it's probably done United a favour because there's such a big discussion that could be had around the fact that they had an extra player for the amount of time that they did playing at home and instead of getting the three points they end up losing the game somehow.
