That's a great idea.
Why don't you try that?
Even if the idea is absolutely wrong, let's just encourage that effort so that kids get into their creative thinking and their effort is seen as something that parents are rewarding and are acknowledging and validating.
And eventually when kids learn to bring their best selves and their creativity and their effort to problems, they're going to get through a lot of problems that way.
So rather than either doing it for them or fighting with them about it or over-focusing on the grade, if parents can focus on the effort and make it fun and a positive experience without worrying about the outcome, that's going to make a big difference.
You know, a feature of growth mindset people is that they're comfortable with failure.
So it's like, oh, that's weird.
I didn't know that.
Boy, I went down this path and no wonder I didn't get the answer.
I went down the wrong path.
Wow, I can try this path.
And so it's just all part of the journey for a growth mindset person.
it's not about success or failure.
They will have their successes, but in order to get to those successes, you have to be comfortable with failure.
And that's a big part of having a growth mindset.
So I think if parents know it and can teach it and support it with their kids by being excited about learning and effort, then I think that's going to light up your kid's brain too.
