So being in interpersonal or relationship loops or control battles is one of those factors that leads to and creates burnout.
The other factor, of course, is a lack of support.
So parents need someone to appreciate what they're doing, to know what they're doing and appreciate what they're doing.
The same thing as if you went to work in any job.
If you went to work and no one ever gave you feedback, you didn't know if you were doing a good job or a bad job, and no one had any attaboys or attagirls for you, at the end of the day, you would be just kind of in a void.
You wouldn't know whether you should work harder or less hard, differently.
So getting that interpersonal relationship that helps you know if you're doing a good job or not and gives you support, acknowledgement, validation, appreciation, and advice.
So that's a critical set of things.
emotional needs that have to get met to avoid burnout.
And then, of course, the other element is me time.
Everybody needs just time away from work, whether that work is parenting or that work is the office.
People need time to get their brains back for themselves and just reclaim their own consciousness and their own minds and their own bodies.
And so that's the other element.
So control battles, emotional support, and me time are the three elements that have to be there or you will burn out.
Exactly.
And I think despair is really a good word to describe what parents in a state of burnout actually feel like.
Because, you know, I mean, jobs are jobs, but parenting is something that we care about so much.
And if you're feeling ineffectual in your role as parent, well, that's going to lead to a really devastating emotional state for you.
