HyvÀÀ keskustelua sinulle. HyvÀÀ keskustelua. Joulu on tullut. Joulu on jatkanut. Joulu on jatkanut.

Se, mitÀ he sanovat. Puhutaan ruokaa. EnsimmÀinen asia, mitÀ haluat tehdÀ, on, ettÀ haluat puhdistua koko ajan. Se on tÀrkeÀ asia ja se pitÀisi pysyÀ huolta siitÀ, ettÀ haluat tehdÀ agressiivista puhdistusta.

The Fork Report w Neil Saavedra
Holidays Are Over, Let's Clean the Kitchen (01/10)

MitÀ tapahtuu, kun teet agressiivisen puhdistuksen? PidÀt vahvemmin. KÀytÀt enemmÀn rikkoja ja rikkoja. KÀytÀt enemmÀn intensiivisiÀ kemioita. YritetÀÀn vahvistaa sitÀ, kun teemme muutaman yksinkertaisen asian. PidÀ rikkoja nopeasti. PidÀ rakentamista, koska rakentaminen on se, mikÀ antaa sinulle ongelman. Työskentelet... TÀmÀ on erittÀin tÀrkeÀÀ. Työskentelet yliopistoon.

The Fork Report w Neil Saavedra
Holidays Are Over, Let's Clean the Kitchen (01/10)

Because if stuff falls on the floor, no big deal. If you start with the floor and then you clean such and such and you work your way, then you got to clean the floor again. So top to bottom is the process in which you want to clean. Keep things like vinegar, baking soda, even dish soap. Different dish soaps have different qualities or different benefits. One of the best, best grease fighting dish soaps is Dawn. If you're from New York, Dawn.

So that is just really great at fighting grease. I use it not only for heavy grease things in the house, but in the shop, whatever. It works quite well. Those commercials where you see them cleaning ducts after the Exxon spill or something like that is no joke. It really works quite well and is gentle to boot.

Wipe surfaces clean, those countertops, stovetops sink after each meal to prevent big stains or worse that grease build up. That grease continues to get heated up the longer it's on there and it changes its chemical compound and becomes much more difficult. So washing pots and pans and utensils while food is cooking is the best thing to do. Do I do that? No, not always.

The Fork Report w Neil Saavedra
Holidays Are Over, Let's Clean the Kitchen (01/10)

I know, you're cooking, that's your goal. But it's like anything else, you gotta put that into the equation. Like when you go out to dinner, you don't look at the prices only. It's the prices plus tip plus tax. So if you don't have plus tip plus tax, then you can't afford to go out to eat. So it's if you think about, well, I'm only setting aside 30 minutes to make the meal, that's not the meal.

The Fork Report w Neil Saavedra
Holidays Are Over, Let's Clean the Kitchen (01/10)

The prep is the meal. The cleanup is the meal. All those things. I know it sucks and it's hard. And I'm not going to say I'm a pro at it. I'm just being quiet for a second so my wife can yell at the radio. No, you're not.

It actually made a weird sound like a thump because it hit directly on the bone. Mm-hmm. Handle dishes as soon as possible. Don't let them pile up. Get them in the dishwasher if necessary. Wash them promptly. All that. Take out the trash. You got food in there. It doesn't age well.

The Fork Report w Neil Saavedra
Holidays Are Over, Let's Clean the Kitchen (01/10)

It's like we say during the Zellmans commercial about food going into your belly. It's like the trash can. It's not going to start smelling better once it goes in there. So take care of that. With the sink, you want to disinfect the sink with baking soda and vinegar. Very easy, very light scrubbing. You can use a cleanser if you want to, but those things work quite well. Even chopped up.

lemon peels or things like that in your garbage disposal for a little bit while running water is good. Baking soda on there helps as well. The microwave. This is the hot tip. This is what triggered this whole conversation. This is what you do. You get a microwave safe bowl. You put one cup of water in there. You put two tablespoons of acid. Now, I don't mean like Breaking Bad type chemicals.

The Fork Report w Neil Saavedra

This is white vinegar. This is two tablespoons of fresh squeezed lemon juice. That's what I mean by acid. You put that in there. You put that bowl in the microwave. You cook it on high for three to five minutes.

The Fork Report w Neil Saavedra
Holidays Are Over, Let's Clean the Kitchen (01/10)

It'll start to boil and steam. Don't touch it. Matter of fact, when that beep goes off, don't even open it. Now you set your watch for five more minutes, but it's just sitting in there. No more cooking. It cooked the five minutes. Now that bowl is just steaming inside. After five minutes, carefully open it up, remove the hot bowl, and then wipe it down.

It will steam the most hardcore gook and wipe it down. No heavy cleansers, no having to go in there. If you want to go in there with a little bit of dish soap afterwards and some water to give it an extra, you're good to go. If there's any stubborn grease on there, you can do it again or you can use some hot water and some of that like Dawn detergent and get that stuff off. But that's the easiest way you will ever, ever have to clean a microwave.
