Hei Kayla, mitä on hauskampaa kuin jokainen jokainen jokainen jokainen jokainen jokainen jokainen jokainen Let me teach you how to eat. Let me teach you how to eat. How to marinate the meat. Let me teach you how to eat. Let me teach you how to eat.

160.917 - 190.246 Neil Saavedra

or somebody's part weather balloon. But my... No, that volume was way up. Who would it have been? Depends who it was in. Anywho. Hey! Welcome to the Fork Report. Neil Saavedra here, your friendly neighborhood Fork Reporter, along with the whole gang, as we celebrate food on a Saturday. A sunny Saturday at that point.

191.191 - 223.928 Neil Saavedra

The ground is starting to dry up a little bit. It was very, very weathery. I loved it. As long as everybody stays safe and stays home, it's beautiful. We would put a log in the fireplace. I think it was legal. I don't check. I'm sorry. When it's cold, put a log on the fire. I probably should check if I know, you know, but... I'm sorry, fix my potholes and I'll listen to you.

224.587 - 253.51 Neil Saavedra

My potholes and I won't burn a fire during the winter in L.A. So you're saying if even if you know it's illegal, you're doing it anyway because of the potholes? No, I'm not like John Kobelt, who rides in the, you know, the Diamond Lane by himself. Who's like, I don't care. I'm not that guy. I'm just saying I don't like stupid things like stupidity. I'm like kind of a rules guy. I'm like, I get it. The rules make a society civil.

253.51 - 277.827 Neil Saavedra

But there's some of those rules sometimes that I'm like, I'm not doing that. I think there's a law. Like I sent a package to a friend yesterday and I put a note in it. Put it in an envelope, put it in the package. I think by law you're supposed to put a stamp on it inside the package. Really? I think so. But I'm going to tell you something. I'm not doing that.

Chapter 2: How can consistent cleaning prevent kitchen messes?

357.106 - 384.275 Neil Saavedra

An Amazon driver came and dumped a couple packages just on the other side of our gate. It's a low gate. We're not in a fortress by any stretch. It's a low gate. And you just open it, you walk to the porch and put them on the porch. The gate is right next to the walkway where people walk, public area. And they just dumped them right over that. The next Amazon driver came by.

ja näin heitä, kun hän laittoi pakkonsa. Hän laittoi heitä niin, että he olisivat olleet olleet olleet olleet olleet olleet olleet olleet olleet olleet olleet olleet olleet olleet olleet olleet

I'm proud to be an American, because at least I know I'm free. Let's talk about food, maybe? Oh yeah, let's do it. Let's get to food for the new year. Get to it. Actually cleaning.

0

431.558 - 461.022 Neil Saavedra

Mom, I love you, but I visited my mom yesterday. She's going to be 88 tomorrow. Happy birthday, mom. I love you dearly. So I was at her house. I'm going to tell you, my mom has done a lot of great things in life. She didn't retire until she was 80. She had seven kids. We were broke. And boy, did that woman know how to make clothing and do things on a shoestring. Literally, she just did great. But I'll tell you, she's getting older.

0

461.95 - 488.326 Neil Saavedra

Clean your damn microwave. So it made me think. So I cleaned it for her yesterday. But this is the deal. And I don't blame her because it's probably her stupid family coming over and cooking things in there and not cleaning it all the time. And it made me think there is great ways to clean your kitchen and your surfaces and those things. And the easiest tip I can ever give you.

489.372 - 516.575 Neil Saavedra

is to do it consistently like keep up with it as you go because once it becomes uh you know oils can uh heat and they become a polymer that's why you get like a non-stick finish when you season a pan uh they become like a plastic at that point and they they're very hard to get off if you do it right well imagine you getting that same oil on your heating surface

516.811 - 541.499 Neil Saavedra

Hänellä on yksi näyttöjärjestelmällä.

541.786 - 570.845 Neil Saavedra

You've got to wipe surfaces as you use them. This is going to keep that once a month deeper cleaning at bay, because you're not going to have to use the higher, more complex chemically solvents and stuff if you use basic things like vinegar, baking soda, lemon juice works on sometimes and things like that. So after we get some news here, I'm going to talk to you about the...

570.845 - 608.712 Neil Saavedra

You're listening to The Fork Report with Neil Saavedra, on demand from KFI AM640. Hyvää keskustelua sinulle. Hyvää keskustelua. Joulu on tullut. Joulu on jatkanut. Joulu on jatkanut. Tämä saattaa jäädä sinulle.

Chapter 3: What are the best methods for cleaning a microwave?

745.096 - 770.864 Neil Saavedra

Wipe surfaces clean, those countertops, stovetops sink after each meal to prevent big stains or worse that grease build up. That grease continues to get heated up the longer it's on there and it changes its chemical compound and becomes much more difficult. So washing pots and pans and utensils while food is cooking is the best thing to do. Do I do that? No, not always.

0

771.387 - 797.392 Neil Saavedra

I know, you're cooking, that's your goal. But it's like anything else, you gotta put that into the equation. Like when you go out to dinner, you don't look at the prices only. It's the prices plus tip plus tax. So if you don't have plus tip plus tax, then you can't afford to go out to eat. So it's if you think about, well, I'm only setting aside 30 minutes to make the meal, that's not the meal.

0

797.982 - 811.499 Neil Saavedra

The prep is the meal. The cleanup is the meal. All those things. I know it sucks and it's hard. And I'm not going to say I'm a pro at it. I'm just being quiet for a second so my wife can yell at the radio. No, you're not.

0

813.102 - 841.334 Neil Saavedra

0

842.482 - 864.706 Neil Saavedra

It actually made a weird sound like a thump because it hit directly on the bone. Mm-hmm. Handle dishes as soon as possible. Don't let them pile up. Get them in the dishwasher if necessary. Wash them promptly. All that. Take out the trash. You got food in there. It doesn't age well.

865.803 - 891.908 Neil Saavedra

It's like we say during the Zellmans commercial about food going into your belly. It's like the trash can. It's not going to start smelling better once it goes in there. So take care of that. With the sink, you want to disinfect the sink with baking soda and vinegar. Very easy, very light scrubbing. You can use a cleanser if you want to, but those things work quite well. Even chopped up.

891.908 - 921.119 Neil Saavedra

lemon peels or things like that in your garbage disposal for a little bit while running water is good. Baking soda on there helps as well. The microwave. This is the hot tip. This is what triggered this whole conversation. This is what you do. You get a microwave safe bowl. You put one cup of water in there. You put two tablespoons of acid. Now, I don't mean like Breaking Bad type chemicals.

921.22 - 941.369 Neil Saavedra

This is white vinegar. This is two tablespoons of fresh squeezed lemon juice. That's what I mean by acid. You put that in there. You put that bowl in the microwave. You cook it on high for three to five minutes.

942.753 - 971.812 Neil Saavedra

It'll start to boil and steam. Don't touch it. Matter of fact, when that beep goes off, don't even open it. Now you set your watch for five more minutes, but it's just sitting in there. No more cooking. It cooked the five minutes. Now that bowl is just steaming inside. After five minutes, carefully open it up, remove the hot bowl, and then wipe it down.

Chapter 4: How does Zaire Calvin describe the impact of the wildfire on Altadena?

1460.039 - 1500.067 Zaire "Coach Z" Calvin

Uusi käyneemme on rakennus. that everyone is running into now. Getting all of your plans through, that's happening in some type of cohesion, and hopefully that opens up more. But the construction side of

0

1500.59 - 1525.109 Zaire "Coach Z" Calvin

We're already starting to see the predatory construction people come in into overbidding, pricing out people, and then also taking too many projects where they're not going to be able to finish in the two-year period that is set in our alternative and native rebuild plan. So it's a lot. I'm not trying to get you to point fingers or anything like that.

0

1526.24 - 1551.873 Neil Saavedra

But does it hurt you that having that high populace of African Americans in Altadena, that it feels like, even though she's a mayor to all of us in Los Angeles, that Mayor Bass, to me, in my perspective, has done very little in this circumstance to show leadership. That's my words, not yours.

0

1553.493 - 1581.691 Zaire "Coach Z" Calvin

Yeah, no. The things that are happening, the difference with Mayor Bass for us is we have a county supervisor who is over our side of the track. So she actually doesn't do our side of making sure things happen. Oh, because city versus county, that type of thing. Yeah, that's why they have me as the unofficial mayor running around. I understand.

0

1581.691 - 1605.974 Neil Saavedra

1606.7 - 1618.225 Zaire "Coach Z" Calvin

I'm absolutely infuriated. I'm mad at the person who burnt us down more so, which is Edison. Edison has the ability right now.

1618.664 - 1642.593 Zaire "Coach Z" Calvin

um to pay out and make sure that everybody is back in their homes right now or at least our last campaign has been for them to pay for an adu on everyone's property to give two hundred thousand dollars toward that adu edison has the money which does not come out of their pocket it comes out of a fund that was created you know to protect

1643.133 - 1672.867 Zaire "Coach Z" Calvin

So they won't even pay for any of the disasters that they've caused, but then they're still holding up that fund while we still don't have housing, while we still don't have the money to be back in our homes and our ALEs are about to run out, our alternative living expenses from our insurance for the ones who had it, and for the people who are unhoused, there's people still living in cars, there's still people in hotels. So Edison...

1673.272 - 1691.598 Zaire "Coach Z" Calvin

Oh, I agree with all of that.

Chapter 5: What community initiatives is Zaire Calvin involved with?
