Pew says people between the ages of 18 and 29 are far more likely to say they feel scared or confused by the news, which they are far more likely to get from social media influencers like, for example, Hasan Piker on TikTok.
Then from a national news organization like the New York Times, Fox News, or NPR.
Most people over 65 say they follow the news all or most of the time.
They are more likely to say it makes them feel informed.
But only 15% of young people say they follow the news most of the time, and the vast majority say they get at least some of it from social media.
About half say they trust that news from social media just as much as they trust information from a news organization.
