Only three, including The Pit on HBO, brought up abortion pills as a way to end a pregnancy, even though that's the most common method in the United States.

The Pit was also one of the few contemporary shows that depicted how hard getting an abortion can be.

The Abortion Onscreen Report comes from a research program at the University of California, San Francisco.

It says it found a significant rise in television shows that depict abortions as shameful.
