Now one that got huge attention last night was a kind of I suppose a bail hearing for Brian Grendon.

Brian Grendon is before the courts he's accused of a series of charges I think it's five or six charges in total

But the basics are he's accused of directing an organised crime gang and that in particular in the importation of large amounts of drugs.

Because it's a serious charge and can hold a potentially lengthy prison sentence,

He won't get bail in the regular way, but he applied for bail in the High Court this week.

And as part of those hearings, the guards really laid out details of the case.

Now the case, clearly this is a bail hearing.

None of this is proven, but they're putting together, I suppose, or they're giving us a glimpse into the case that they're going to make.

Yeah, now we've of course have mentioned the Ghost Network and I think we mentioned it the last time we spoke about Brian Gandon.

So that link is obviously out there in the ether, but it's the first time that the guards have mentioned it in a court setting.

And also it's, you know, it is a legal first as well.

Because while anchor chat messages have been mentioned in courts, this is

absolutely the first case that's brought where the hack of an encrypted network is of primary importance and they do really lay out what they describe as the grand and organized crime group.

Now they're saying he has six handles on this network on these encrypted phones and they describe a series of seizures over that period of time.

But I suppose there's a couple of interesting bits to it.

They describe how much

a kilo of coke is being sold for.

On the, you know, on the streets of Ireland, really.

So they say that Grendon was setting his customers a wholesale price of 41,000 per kilo.
