Well, the plantain squirrel is the common squirrel that you see in both Bali and Java.

There are a couple of other species as well, but this is the one that you'll see sort of scampering around in the forests or the parks.

It's about the size of our red squirrel.

The tail's not quite so bushy.

They're known as plantain squirrels because they would sometimes feed in plantain, which is a plant very closely related to the banana.

But they're often found in all sorts of trees.

And they're

quite confiding and they're very cute.

I love squirrels.

I've said this on the program many times before.

I'm known mostly for birds, but I'm also an absolute squirrel nut.

So anytime I see a new squirrel, I'm delighted with that.

And they're sort of a lovely brown color with a stripe along their side.

There's a squirrel here in Java that I'm really hoping to see.

They have a flying squirrel here and flying squirrels are really quite impressive.

I said I like birds, I like squirrels.

Flying squirrels kind of like the best of both worlds.
