Uh, Donald Trump, as is his want, is expressing it in very ebullient terms, talking about how this is a great victory for him.
Uh it seems rather less so from the perspective of Greenland and Denmark, who are basically at least implying that this is exactly what was already in place.
Denmark and the US already have an agreement that allows the United States to deploy forces to Greenland.
And from the Danish perspective and the Greenland perspective, this seems more about stabilizing a situation that was clearly destabilized, particularly around the start of this year, when President Trump seemed to even indicate he might somehow invade Greenland.
It is, rather, I mean, the uh situation that you just outlined was primarily around the time of the Cold War between the US and what was then the Soviet Union.
The US uh presence in Greenland has decreased significantly since then.
The Trump administration seems to be hanging its hat quite significantly in regards to this most recent agreement on the idea that it purportedly bars non uh NATO.
